Practical Policy Experience

For nearly two decades, I have worked across government, civil society, and academia to advance atrocity prevention, international human rights, and accountability. My career bridges policy development, legal analysis, legislative advocacy, and education, translating international law into operational tools for prevention and protection.

U.S. Government Atrocity Prevention

As an Atrocity Prevention Officer at the United States Department of State, I supported the U.S. government’s early warning architecture and interagency prevention strategy. I developed country risk assessments, synthesized open and classified analysis for policymakers, contributed to congressional reporting under the Elie Wiesel Act, and supported diplomatic engagements linking prevention, humanitarian response, and accountability in active conflict settings.

Legislative Advocacy & Civil Society Leadership

Through long-term leadership with the Prevention and Protection Working Group, I have helped shape how the United States implements atrocity prevention policy. I have led congressional advocacy on prevention funding and compliance, advised senior officials across agencies, drafted civil society oversight reports, and briefed bipartisan congressional bodies on early warning gaps and policy reform. My work has also advanced protections for groups facing heightened atrocity risk.

International Law Leadership & Policy Engagement

At the American Society of International Law, where I served as Deputy Executive Director and Director of Education and Research, I led institutional strategy, major research initiatives, and global policy programming. I designed high-level engagements with governments, international organizations, and academic institutions, managed task forces on international criminal accountability, and translated complex legal developments into practical policy guidance.

Legal Education & Capacity Building

At the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, I conducted comparative legal research and legislative drafting across human rights, international criminal law, and civilian protection. I designed international training programs, managed grant-funded initiatives, and taught law and international relations to students and public audiences. My work focused on international human rights implementation in transitional, conflict, and post-conflict contexts.

Community Advocacy & Public Service

Alongside institutional roles, I have led human rights education initiatives for local governments and civic organizations, organized public outreach programs, and provided pro bono legal services to underserved communities — grounding international law in everyday practice.
